Safety Precautions

Installation, wiring, inspection, and servicing operations must be performed in accordance with all applicable local and national electrical codes.

DANGER

RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, EXPLOSION, OR ARC FLASH

  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all electrical safety regulations applicable to the workplace. Refer to NFPA 70E, CSA Z462, or applicable local standards.
  • Installation and maintenance of this equipment must be performed only by qualified personnel.
  • Disconnect all power circuits from the device and from the equipment in which it is installed before performing any work on the equipment.
  • Always use a properly rated and calibrated voltage-sensing device to verify that power has been isolated.
  • Communications and I/O wiring should be considered hazardous live parts unless otherwise specified.
  • Before performing visual inspections, testing, or maintenance on the equipment, disconnect all electrical power sources. Assume that all circuits are energized until they have been completely disconnected, tested, and properly identified. Pay particular attention to the design of the power system. Consider all power sources, especially the risk of backfeed.
  • Do not exceed the maximum rating of this device.
  • Replace all devices, doors, and covers before energizing the equipment.
  • Do not short-circuit the secondary winding of a voltage transformer (VT).
  • Do not open-circuit a current transformer (CT).
  • Always use grounded external CTs for current inputs.
  • Do not use water or other liquids to clean the product. Use a cleaning cloth to remove dirt. If the dirt cannot be removed, contact your local technical support representative.

Failure to follow these instructions will result in death or serious injury.

WARNING

UNINTENDED OPERATION
